Caving

The practical research and caving represents our major task area, which are committed to the cave and nature protection.

From our name it follows that we are active not in circumscribed areas but everywhere, where we can process projects of our interest.

Nevertheless our activity emphasis, is the space of Attendorn / Heggen / Grevenbrueck, Warstein and surroundings as well as some single projects which are cared for by us, e.g. the Volmehanghoehle in Hagen, the Bilsteinschacht in Warstein, the Landemerter cave and - together with the 'Höhle u. Karst Sauerland/Hemer e.V' - the Liethoehle in Warstein.

Occasionally we were asked by different scientists for assistance in investigations related to caving.
Thus we where involved in its excavations in Neuwieder basin admitted by Professor G. Bosinski for stone-temporal cutting drawings in culture caves (unfortunately unsuccessful).

Other research was concerned itself with the cave formation in the Warsteiner mass lime, the growth of excentrique sinter formations, the quake abort of sinter or its age determination by different physical methods.

Often we cooperate with other groups of cave researchers, in order to intensify the common interests more effectively. The Liethoehle and the Bilsteinschacht as well as the cave in the hollow stone at the Hennesee are to serve for this as examples.

An extensive photo documentation (slide and pictures) and a good literature collection exists in property of individual members additionally.

With our participation in the regional organization of caving (Landesverband für Höhlen- und Karstforschung NRW) we want to make a contribution for the communication and cooperation within our Land.
